CNPC: projects and investment
CNPC reports around 30 international exploration and production projects, with operations in countries such as Azerbaijan, Canada, Indonesia, Oman, Peru and Thailand, so some staff work under foreign site rules.
CNPC is a Beijing-headquartered state-owned integrated energy group and parent of PetroChina, covering crude and gas production, refining and petrochemicals in China and overseas. CNPC's headquarters are in Dongcheng District, Beijing, while its operating assets are spread across China's oil and gas basins and overseas, so site contacts are rarely at head office. Buyers searching for an ATEX and IECEx smartphone supplier for CNPC can take the datasheet and the certification schedule for the IS-04Z1 now; supply follows certification.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. An ATEX and IECEx smartphone for CNPC cannot be bought yet: the SAMS IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued), and the datasheet, certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
Status: pre-launch. IECEx, ATEX, UKEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress and no certificate has been issued; launch is planned for Q4 2026. An operator's own vendor approval is a separate step. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in China. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.
Where it operates and the kinds of classified area a handset would meet there.
Supplier registration and equipment approval are run by the organisation itself; confirm current requirements with its procurement and HSE teams. The Ex certificate and an organisation's own vendor or engineering approval are two separate timelines; SAMS is working towards both and holds neither today.

CNPC originated as a government department after 1949, when a Fuel Industry Ministry was formed, and the group was restructured in 1998 along upstream and downstream lines.
CNPC is the government-owned parent of listed PetroChina, created in 1999, which holds most of the group's exploration, refining, marketing, chemicals and natural gas businesses, so site buyers are often PetroChina units.
In July 2013 CNPC and Eni signed a 4.2 billion dollar deal for a 20% stake in an offshore natural gas block in Mozambique, an example of its overseas gas investments.
ATEX is the European legal framework for equipment used in explosive atmospheres (Directive 2014/34/EU). IECEx is the international certification scheme built on the IEC 60079 standards. Buyers outside Europe often ask for both: an IECEx certificate is the technical evidence most national regimes build on, while ATEX is the legal route into the European market.
For the IS-04Z1 both routes are in progress with TÜV in Germany and neither certificate has been issued. The marking target is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4: equipment Group II (surface industry), Category 2 (Zone 1 gas), protection concept ib (intrinsic safety), gas group IIC and temperature class T4.
In CNPC. A CNPC reviewer assessing a handset for the Changqing oilfield or a refinery or petrochemical plant would look for a certificate of conformity, schedule of conditions and marking. ATEX and IECEx evidence helps international contractors and EPCs working with CNPC in China and overseas. The IS-04Z1 is in certification and nothing has been issued.
There is no stock to order for CNPC yet. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch, certification is in progress, and supply will run through authorised distributors after the certificates are issued. Procurement teams can prepare now with the datasheet, the certification schedule and a safe-area evaluation.
The technical specification, marking target and conditions of use, sent by email.
Which certificates are in progress, in what order, and what is still to be confirmed.
Evaluation units can be used for connectivity, MDM enrolment and workflow testing outside classified areas.

Not yet. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and its certification is still in progress ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. No unit goes into a classified area before the certificate covering it exists. The datasheet, the certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
SAMS has not published a price. Any figure you are offered for an uncertified Ex phone should be treated with caution; written indicative pricing is available for a defined quantity and site.
Not yet. Both routes are in progress with TÜV in Germany and no certificate has been issued. Any listing that says otherwise is wrong.
Supplier registration and equipment approval are run by the organisation itself; confirm current requirements with its procurement and HSE teams.
Through authorised distributors once certificates exist. Until then SAMS can send the datasheet and certification schedule and arrange safe-area evaluation units.
Chinese is the working language, so labelling, safety instructions and training for hazardous-area devices are normally expected in Chinese, with English accepted for some engineering discussion. Confirm the documentation language with the site's procurement and safety departments.
PetroChina holds most of the operating assets, including refining, chemicals and gas, while CNPC is the parent group with other businesses such as drilling services. The right contact depends on the site, so ask the local oilfield or refinery safety and procurement teams which entity places the order.
CNPC runs its own supplier registration and equipment approval, so the answer depends on its current requirements and any national rules. IECEx documents help comparison. The IS-04Z1 has no certificate yet. Confirm requirements with CNPC's procurement and HSE teams before planning an evaluation.
