CNPC: geography and layout
CNPC's headquarters are in Dongcheng District, Beijing, while its operating assets are spread across China's oil and gas basins and overseas, so site contacts are rarely at head office.
CNPC is a Beijing-headquartered state-owned integrated energy group and parent of PetroChina, covering crude and gas production, refining and petrochemicals in China and overseas. Its subsidiary Great Wall Drilling Company provides drilling services, so rig crews and service contractors are an important group of hazardous-area users within the CNPC family. Buyers searching for an intrinsically safe mobile phone supplier for CNPC can take the datasheet and the certification schedule for the IS-04Z1 now; supply follows certification.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. An intrinsically safe mobile phone for CNPC cannot be bought yet: the SAMS IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued), and the datasheet, certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
Status: pre-launch. IECEx, ATEX, UKEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress and no certificate has been issued; launch is planned for Q4 2026. An operator's own vendor approval is a separate step. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in China. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.
The main sites and the hazardous-area types a portable device is likely to meet at this organisation.
Supplier registration and equipment approval are run by the organisation itself; confirm current requirements with its procurement and HSE teams. The Ex certificate and an organisation's own vendor or engineering approval are two separate timelines; SAMS is working towards both and holds neither today.
CNPC's headquarters are in Dongcheng District, Beijing, while its operating assets are spread across China's oil and gas basins and overseas, so site contacts are rarely at head office.
In July 2013 CNPC and Eni signed a 4.2 billion dollar deal for a 20% stake in an offshore natural gas block in Mozambique, an example of its overseas gas investments.
In March 2014 the chairman announced that six business units would be opened to private investors, which means some service and equipment purchasing may sit with newer mixed-ownership entities.
In 2018 the company announced gas storage facilities with a total capacity of 55.6 billion cubic metres in northern Henan province, to ease winter supply bottlenecks, adding underground storage and compression sites.
Intrinsic safety limits the electrical and thermal energy in a circuit so that neither a spark nor a hot surface can ignite a gas or dust atmosphere, even when a fault occurs. The ib level, used for Zone 1, tolerates one fault. It is the usual way to make a handheld device that a worker carries continuously through a hazardous area.
The IS-04Z1 is designed on this principle for Zone 1 and Zone 21 (marking target II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4). Intrinsic safety is a design basis, not a certificate: certification is in progress and none has been issued yet.
In CNPC. Field inspection at the Changqing oilfield in the Ordos Basin, gas processing rounds and petrochemical plant checks involve photographing equipment, reading tags and logging faults. A handheld designed as intrinsically safe could carry that on one device. The IS-04Z1 is designed for the purpose, though certification is still in progress.
There is no stock to order for CNPC yet. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch, certification is in progress, and supply will run through authorised distributors after the certificates are issued. Procurement teams can prepare now with the datasheet, the certification schedule and a safe-area evaluation.

Evaluation units can be used for connectivity, MDM enrolment and workflow testing outside classified areas.

No. Nothing can be bought or taken into a classified area today: certification is in progress and launch is planned for Q4 2026. What is available now is the datasheet, the written certification schedule and evaluation units for safe-area use.
SAMS has not published a price. Any figure you are offered for an uncertified Ex phone should be treated with caution; written indicative pricing is available for a defined quantity and site.
The circuits are designed to limit energy so a spark or hot surface cannot ignite a gas or dust atmosphere, even with one fault (level ib, Zone 1). Certification of that design is in progress.
Supplier registration and equipment approval are run by the organisation itself; confirm current requirements with its procurement and HSE teams.
Through authorised distributors once certificates exist. Until then SAMS can send the datasheet and certification schedule and arrange safe-area evaluation units.
Chinese is the working language, so labelling, safety instructions and training for hazardous-area devices are normally expected in Chinese, with English accepted for some engineering discussion. Confirm the documentation language with the site's procurement and safety departments.
PetroChina holds most of the operating assets, including refining, chemicals and gas, while CNPC is the parent group with other businesses such as drilling services. The right contact depends on the site, so ask the local oilfield or refinery safety and procurement teams which entity places the order.
CNPC runs its own supplier registration and equipment approval, so the answer depends on its current requirements and any national rules. IECEx documents help comparison. The IS-04Z1 has no certificate yet. Confirm requirements with CNPC's procurement and HSE teams before planning an evaluation.
