Baytown lies on the Houston Ship Channel about 26 miles east of Houston. ExxonMobil's complex there, founded in 1919, combines a refinery with chemical and ethylene units, and Chevron Phillips and Covestro also run large plants, so classified areas span process units, crackers and storage. Distribution partners for Baytown, Texas (ExxonMobil Baytown complex) are being identified ahead of the Q4 2026 launch of the IS-04Z1.

ExxonMobil has made a final investment decision on a reconfiguration project at Baytown to raise production of higher-demand products such as base stocks and diesel.
A 2 billion dollar expansion started two new chemical lines in 2023: 400,000 tonnes per year of performance polymers and 350,000 tonnes per year of linear alpha olefins.
The complex has a workforce of about 7,000 people, and the 2023 expansion supported over 3,500 construction jobs and 200 permanent roles.
ExxonMobil is developing a large blue hydrogen facility at Baytown, adding a new type of process plant to the complex.
IECEx is the international scheme for certifying equipment used in explosive atmospheres. A certificate of conformity is issued by an accredited certification body against a specific edition of the IEC 60079 standards and carries a schedule of conditions of safe use. It is not a legal requirement in most countries on its own, but many national schemes accept it as the technical basis.
The IECEx certificate for the IS-04Z1 is in progress and has not been issued. The marking target is Ex ib IIC T4, the intrinsic safety concept for Zone 1 gas with the hardest gas group (IIC) and a 135 °C temperature class.
In Baytown, Texas (ExxonMobil Baytown complex). The projects at Baytown, including a blue hydrogen facility under construction, bring international engineering and licensor teams that may use IECEx documents. The target is a certificate of conformity plus a schedule of conditions that an engineer can read against a given area. It is not yet available, and operators decide what they accept.
Distribution of the IS-04Z1 is by authorised partners only, and SAMS has not yet granted a territory for Baytown, Texas (ExxonMobil Baytown complex). Each application is reviewed on its merits. Because opening a certified Ex handset in an ordinary workshop invalidates its certificate, the partner must be able to support and service the device locally.
Not today. Until the certificates are issued the IS-04Z1 stays out of classified areas, and until launch there is nothing to purchase. You can ask for the datasheet and the certification schedule, or book a safe-area evaluation unit.
There is no list price yet. SAMS gives indicative pre-launch pricing in writing, against a stated quantity and site, and does not commit to a lead time before certification completes.
No. The IECEx certificate is in progress and has not been issued. SAMS will publish the number when it exists.
